Ronnie Miller

I was born in 1943 and raised in South Africa and am a product of the Zionist youth movement Habonim. I have lived in Israel and now reside in South Africa. My friendships forged in Habonim have endured for more than 60 years and now when my phone rings it’s usually Israel calling. I was an academic, now set to pasture, previously ensconced in a Humanities Ivory Tower of the “pilpul” variety for whom the world that matters is adorned with abstractions often divorced from reality and also sometimes constitutive of that reality (Marx and Herzl come to mind). As this is not an academic journal I will dispense with the typical academic conventions (footnotes and detailed references) and rather attempt to convey some ideas that have occupied my mind and no doubt also that of the readers of Kaleidoscope.
