Gideon Shimoni is Professor Emeritus at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in the Humanities Faculty’s Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry where he was the first incumbent of The Chair of Israel-Diaspora Relations. In 1961, after serving as Mazkir-Klali (General-Secretary) of Habonim-Dror, South Africa, he and his wife, Toni (ז.ל) settled in Jerusalem, Israel. More recently he served as Chief Academic Advisor for ANU: The Museum of the Jewish People, situated on the campus of Tel Aviv University.
